Introduction The purpose of this report is to reflect on my experiences of working in a team both clinically and academically. By reflection, I aim to learn new skills from these experiences and apply them in future team working scenarios. Throughout this reflective report I intend to use the Gibbs reflection model (Appendix 2) to give structure to it. I will be using my Emotional Intelligence (EI) score as a tool to understand why I felt and behaved in my clinical and academic team scenarios (Appendix 1). In my clinical experiences, I learned how effective teamwork minimised risk of harm to the radiographers and the patient. Borrill C., et al (2007) discusses how healthcare teams that function effectively provide higher levels of innovation and quality of patient care. In relation to the presentation, I realised that it took several group discussions before we started working as an effective team. Also the team had been constructed by the lecturer and not by us. This is similar to the workplace, as radiographers do not choose who they work with. I didn’t take offense by this as I knew it was to the benefit of the team. We received good feedback overall and I even received individual praise. However a few obvious flaws were pointed out; such as no symptoms of hypoglycaemia and dubious resources used. I accepted all criticism as it was constructive. The feedback also helped identify areas to improve on which will help me in future team working situations. Upon reflection, there was no definitive leader in the team; I believe this was a major factor in us not achieving some of the learning outcomes of the task. Leadership can be defined as ‘a power and process which is effective in motivating a certain group or society to act at a certain direction’ Unsar, S. (2014: pp3). The leader of the group could have reviewed the presentation as a whole and given direction. This would have ensured that each individual had achieved the aims of their assigned
