In reference to the idea that Jewell purposefully planted the bomb so that he could receive credit for mitigating the amount of damage done by or prevented from being done by the bomb, this should be low and at best medium evidence in support of a case against Mr. Jewell. First of all, the other or several other cases involving male suspects planting bombs to get credit has nothing to do with Richard Jewell. These cases only have to do with the investigators framing their profiling and moving forward on Mr. Jewell possible motives. Besides, it was a crude homemade bomb. To say that Jewell may have heard of a dishonest firefighter is a stretch because influence does not speak directly to motive. Polygraph or lie detector test are used on talk shows and reality shows like Jerry Springer where people are paid to pretend to have marriages, love affairs, fights, and other ridiculous things. This is a serious case. Lie detector tests are not 100% accurate and without error. These are technology based. Just like a courtroom would not have a robot for a judge, so too polygraph tests should not hold much weight. They actually should only be used by psychologists to detect signs, dispositions, and create a better profile of a suspect during the initial investigation stage. This should be low evidence, because it is not evidence but provides the greater insight into the personality and character of a man that psychologists work
