When people think great westerns they think Rio Bravo, Stage Coach, El Dorado, and True Grit; these films have many things in common, but most importantly they all star John Wayne. John Wayne is more known for his roles in the westerns as a gun slinger or a sheriff, but he had other roles such as a navy captain, a safari hunter, and once as a Davy Crockett. He also played in different genres such as action, comedy, drama, and of course westerns. John Wayne was born Marion Michael Morrison in Winterset, Iowa, on May 26,1907(History). His family moved to Glendale, California in 1913, where he grew up like any other child.
Richard the Lionheart is one of the most famous of kings, if not the most, in England and France. He was born on September 8, 1157 and died on April 6, 1199. He is mainly known for his part in the Third Crusade attempting to free Jerusalem from Muslim control. Although he had a large and important role in Medieval Europe, it is usually romanticized to increase the heroism of Richard. Richard’s prowess as a military leader, his benevolence and his sense of responsibility were all greatly exaggerated.

Paul Revere was born on New Year’s Day 1735, on a shipping wharf in North End Boston. Paul was the third out of twelve children, and eventually the eldest surviving son. Revere attended North End Writing School where he learned reading, writing, and arithmetic.
lthough heroic stories go all the way back to humanity's first writings, they are still being written today. Batman, for example, shares many of the same characteristics as Beowulf who was one of the first heros written about; therefore, making Batman an archetypal hero. A hero is figure larger than life who fights for the right reasons. Batman is a figure well known to many readers as a hero who defends Gotham City from the Joker. The Dark Knight includes many of the same archetypes found in Beowulf--such as, a hero, a outcast, symbols, and a quest.
Robin Hood, from the story Robin Hood and the Three Squires, lead this group of men. He was seen as a hero in his time, but compared to modern heroes such as Bretagne, is Hood even a hero at all? Robin Hood can strongly relate to modern day heroes today because of his worthy actions and risks he carries out. Robin Hood is extremely loyal to his men.
What makes and decides a good villain? Perhaps it is brutality, power, evil, or maybe even a lack of evil. Some great villains are colorful and even funny. However, I think that the best villains are heroes in their own eyes and present us with morally grey dilemmas that make us think. Jason Todd, aka Red Hood, is just such a villain.
When reading the poem for the first time, it is easy to belive that the poem starts off positive - with batman being referred to as a “big shot” (line 1) - and gets less so, but upon re-reading, we understand that the first few lines are, in fact, sarcasm. The poem orbits around the down sides of hero worship, as it is not a sustaining thing; no matter how great someone may seem, behind their cult of personality hides a flawed person . The poem develops its themes and ideas - that batman isnt as much of a hero as he 'd like us to think, and robin is the more heroic of the two - through a somewhat methodical destruction of his persona. By starting on a more positive note, and then illustrating his failures, it leads us to believe that the positive things we hear may not be true. An example of this is line 13, with the phrase “holy roll-me-over-in-the-clover” mocking batman for his affair with a married woman, parodying Batman 's use of the word “holy”, and using this repetition to exaggerate Batman 's failures.
“These heroic archetypes pop up all over Western Lit. They are: Stereotypical/Classical Heroes, Everyday/Everyman Heroes, and Anti/Un Heroes” (Bunting). Each type of hero is used for certain reasons; not all stories use the anti-hero and the classic hero is not always the way to go. There are many reasons why an author would choose to use a certain type hero in their work.
Robin Hood Child or adult we have all heard of Robin Hood and his “merry men”, but is what we are hearing true? Old folk tales and books and movies show a young buck dominating the richer government officials and stealing their money from taxes to give back to the poor. The only proof of Robin Hood is in those stories and what people say about him, although the stories often contradict themselves we still believe that he once roamed the earth and fought injustice. According to Leitch Thomas “Adaptations without sources” the limited exposure to Robin Hood facts helps lead the information of Robin Hood into being a myth.

First, he already has a conflict with the Sheriff and his administration making him vengeance. He grew this group of his disciplined and living against the law. Making himself Supreme and the only one to make decisions was another problem.
A golden age is a period of time when an empire thrives. It thrives socially, economically, and politically. Both Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome experienced a golden age. Ancient Rome’s Golden Age was called the Pax Romana. Pax Romana means “roman peace”.
Robin faces several problems with his industry. His customer base has virtually vanished. His company has too many employees that are engulfing profits to maintain the increased size. He employs the “more the marrier” method even though large size in a firm can be a disadvantage. Robin enjoys being the last word in decisions and delegates authority to his managers but has made their tasks more difficult by having them manage more than one task.
