Romeo and Juliet is one of the most universally known plays written by Shakespeare. It is a play about two star crossed lovers from opposing families, and we can all learn a lot from their story. Luckily, we don't have to follow in Romeo and Juliet's footsteps. Even though the story of Romeo and Juliet happened in a different time period, the morals of this story still stand true. In this story, we can see two main themes; how humans love drama and how love conquers all. In this play, we see how humans love drama. Everybody likes to stir the pot sometimes, especially Friar Laurence and Nurse. Both of them act as mediators in Romeo and Juliet’s love life, by carrying messages and helping plot schemes. Another person who loves drama is the infamous Mercutio. He is the jokester of this play, from picking on Nurse to constantly teasing Tybalt. We also see Mercutio’s love of drama in his final words. As Mercutio dies, he gives a long speech ending with the line, “a plague on both your houses.” And let us not forget Tybalt. One is Romeo and Juliet’s fear of death. Although it never says in the play that they fear death, we can assume that no one wants to die. However, Romeo and Juliet’s love was so strong that they would rather be together in death than apart and living. Another is how it conquers a family feud that has gone back generations. When Romeo and Juliet first fall in love, they quickly forget their background. They aren’t really worried about how they are supposed to feel, they are more worried about each other. They also help unite their families, even though it's not on the happiest note. When both the Montagues and the Capulets only children die, it really hits home for them. They are willing to set aside their hatred so that no one else has to die like Romeo and
