In the famous tragedy, Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet embark on a sudden relationship together. This relationship has been debated thoroughly for many years whether they are in love, or it is just lust. Their relationship is short-lived but grew from little feelings to true love. Romeo and Juliet is a love story that began with the lust of a broken-hearted boy and turned quickly into true love. They show signs of passionate love, commitment to one another, and strong support for one another. A very clear example that Romeo and Juliet are truly in love is their strong signs of passionate love towards each other. Teenshealth.org explains to us the healthy and unhealthy signs of a relationship in which many of the healthy signs coalign with Romeo and Juliet’s relationship. “In a healthy relationship, your significant other is there with a shoulder to cry on when you find out your parents are getting divorced…” (teenshealth.org). Romeo and Juliet have this between one another, Juliet supports Romeo when he must leave, and Romeo supports Juliet when she must keep her relationship a secret, it goes both ways which is a huge sign of love. In Act 3 of Romeo and Juliet, after Romeo killed Juliet's cousin, Juliet was forced to pick sides on who she should support. This showed her true loyalty now that she married Romeo. “Shall I speak ill of him that is my husband? Ah, poor my lord, what tongue shall smooth thy name When I, thy three-hours wife, have mangled it?”(3.1.97-99). Juliet explains that she must support her husband, she would ruin her marriage if she didn’t. This shows that she loves Romeo as she supports him through even the bad parts of life. Romeo and Juliet's support for each other is a sign of a healthy relationship. Juliet chooses to support Romeo over her own dead cousin which shows how much she cared for Romeo. And Romeo follows this path as he chooses to follow his banishment rather than dying as he would have liked to because he knew he could still be with Juliet.
