On a typical day, when most people are faced with a challenge, they have the propensity to just walk away from the challenge, but there a few others who do not just simply turn around and leave. They are determined to go through the struggle until they achieve their goal. That type of person is a courageous person who does not give up and stays strong until the end. One person in our society who is courageous is Rosa Parks. She fought for civil rights from the beginning to the end. In fact, her actions were the first to spark the civil rights movement. There were a lot of hardships that she went through and the fact that she did not give up prove how courageous Rosa Parks is. “Some Southern senators denounced her, using harsh and racist language. She received numerous death threats. Parks was fired from her department store job. The harassment eventually forced her to leave Montgomery for Detroit” (“Not Just Along For The Ride”). Despite all the disdain Parks received she still fought through even if it required her moving she moved and was relinquish. Also, Parks wrote, “The more we gave in and compiled, the worse they treated us,” (“Not Just Along For The Ride”). Rosa Parks staying seated on the bus is just a moment and one simple action, but what she endured lasted for months, proving she is resilient and willing to fight. Although people did not treat her well and treated her terribly, she did not stop but managed to keep going. Rosa Parks did not only face verbal assault, but also violent and physical assault. Rosa Parks was robbed and assaulted in her house where she “Was treated at Detroit Receiving Hospital for facial injuries and had swelling on the right side of her face” (“Rosa Parks Robbed and Beaten”). If you ask anyone about whom Rosa Parks is? Their immediate response is yes, of course, she is the women who did not give up her seat on the Montgomery bus. But that is not who Rosa Parks is. The Montgomery bus incident is just the beginning of all of her remarkable actions and the long successful journey.
