I am interested in the SARC tutoring job offer which I received in an email on July, 13 2016. This job interests me because I am pursuing a degree in Computer Science with a minor in Information Technology and with this background I feel that I could be a benefit for the organization.
Being a Computer Science major teaches me skills in a logical, mathematical, and methodical fashion. With a minor in Information Technology, I understand the concepts associated with the use of databases, networking and the hardware portion of computers. I believe these skills would be of interest to SARC Supplemental Instruction because of the broad area of study Computer Science encompasses. Computer Science does not teach someone to memorize and regurgitate information, but instead it prepares one to understand concepts and to learn how to adapt to difficult situations. With this mindset, I would attempt to aid students in understanding concepts as a whole and to not just memorize a single aspect of information.

At the time I was a nursing major with a focus directed towards health. However, after working there for some time I understood that this was not the direction I wanted my life to go. As a result, I went back to my roots to focus on the study of Computer Science. I believe this is relevant to my cause of applying for this position because from this experience I learned how to better associate with people which is beneficial in the case of SARC tutoring.
