Evaluation Plan Recommendations are important because they purpose the best course of action and improvements for academic programs. Effective recommendations can be made when the mission of an institution is examined, and it is determined whether it is meeting its goals and accreditation requirements. Truly effective recommendations can be characterized as being detailed, evaluative, in-depth, and “answers questions that are important to the various departments” (Banta and Palomba, 2015). In order to determine outcomes of recommendations, an evaluation plan must be put in place to measure success. I would ask the Alumni Department to collect data from their alumni network regarding the length of time it took to obtain a job, their types of jobs, level of job readiness, etc. through electronic surveys or handwritten surveys obtained during alumni events throughout the year. With the provided data the Program Analyst will be able to cross-examine responses between recent graduates (under four years) and older graduates (over four years) to assess if levels of student achievement or changes of learning outcomes have increased or decreased based on changes within the Mathematics Department overtime. This will foster improvement by determining whether the curriculum is attaining its departmental outcomes after students graduate.
