As part of the interview panel for my floor, I have the opportunity to evaluate candidates for the potential of being team members. As a preceptor, I teach how to care for a laboring patient and how to mentally prepare when you are going back for a crash cesarean section. As a RN, I actively work on critical thinking skills, health promotion, and health education for patients (Whitehead et al., 2017). I realize that more competencies and skills such as autonomy, research proficiency, and diagnosing will be required of me as a NP (Whitehead et al., 2017). Although there is always room for improvement, I have excellent conflict resolution and problem solving skills in the current clinical setting. I will improve my emotional intelligence by striving to remain calm in difficult situations, staying proactive, and knowing my limitations (Whitehead et al., 2017). My critical thinking skills are utilized when making staffing assignments and responding to high-risk patient scenarios calmly. In the labor and delivery setting, a patient can go from pushing for a vaginal delivery to a crash emergency cesarean section requiring general anesthesia. I will prioritize self-care practices to strengthen my leadership skills (Whitehead et al.,
