Should It Be Legal For Humans To Do Testing On Animals?

Animal testing is the use of non-human animals in experiments and research (Wikipedia). It is used to test drugs, cosmetics, vaccines, etc. to see if they’ll be safe, effective, and beneficial for human use (ANZCCART). However, there have been numerous debates on whether humans should be allowed to test on animals. Individuals who support animal testing believe that it is necessary for the advancement of medicines, as animals are the closest things to humans in regards of DNA and bodily functions. Many scientists endorse animal testing, mainly because it is the closest thing to doing tests on humans because they are also living beings (Novartis). In fact, “90% of biological scientists believe that animal testing is essential (ProCon).” The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) supports animal testing because it can lead to medical advances for humans and animals (ProCon). Without animal testing, we would not have the medications, vaccines, and breakthroughs that we had in the past, and we would not have any more breakthroughs in the future (Shandilya). We have gained so much information about both humans and animals from animal testing, and this information needs to be passed down to our future scientists, veterinarians, and doctors so that they will bring more life-changing information, ideas, and breakthroughs as well (ANZCCART). Animal testing is necessary for the present and future, and banning it will only hinder us from creating medications and vaccines needed to increase the well-being of both the animal and human
