Colleges and universities should not start paying college athletes, because it can put a financial strain on the schools that have to pay their athletes. Schools that do not have as much money as some of the bigger universities will be putting strain on the financial side of the school to try to pay for their athletes. If schools start and keep paying their athletes, it will put financial strain on schools, and it will put the possibility of cutting other activities and sports in that school. Sports like Golf, Tennis, and soccer that will have less money will get cut. Fans of those sports will not be happy and the school could possibly lose a lot of money. College athletes should not be getting paid because it will put strain on the financial part of the school. In an article called, Why College Athletes shouldn’t be Paid, in JobsinSports.com, it says,”If universities were to pay college athletes, they’d likely have to divert funds from other vital programs and services, ultimately impacting the quality of education and resources available to non-athletes students. Imagine a scenario where a school has to pick between paying scholarships to non-athlete students or pay for their sports players.It's a lose lose.” (Jobs in sports) In these quotes it is saying that if schools will have to start paying athletes then the school will basically have to choose between academic students or paying athletes but whatever one they choose there is going to be people that are mad on both sides. If the school will start having to choose either to pay athletes or give scholarships to students, it will not be good because there will be a lot of mad
