The legal age of driving should be raised. To start off, there are teen that can’t mentally and physically drive. Distracting objects such as cell phones, friends in the same vehicle, radio, and anything they can think of are all deadly when driving a 4,000 pound vehicle. Teens are most likely going to be involved in drugs and alcohol. All in all, the legal driving age should be raised for numerous reasons.
Similar to the USA, At the age of 16, a teen can be able to start learning to drive and 6 months later, if enough driving hours are filled out, they can receive their permit. With a permit, they must be driving with someone who is over 18 with a full driving license. If however, that teen is in a situation where they might need to get their driving license early, at about 14 or 15, They are allowed to fill out a special form, in order to get their driving license at an earlier time. This form will evaluate their family situation and the reasons as to why they might need their license to be established early. A person may not drive under the influence.
Punishing all of the American citizens by the MLDA being raised to 21 is not the right way to go about and promote safe driving. Recently, crashes for 16-year-olds have been decreasing, while crashes for 18-year-olds are increasing. Why? People are waiting until 18 to get a license so they can skip Driver’s Ed.
