There has been an ongoing debate as to allow physician assisted suicide or not. Already in places like Montana, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington is this legal. However, many people disagree that is should be legal. People are generally in good health and not in chronic pain, which makes it more difficult to emphasize what people in chronic pain are going through. Though, people should really begin to care about his debate because in the future, they may have to make a decision to end their life or not based on the physical pain they are in. Legalizing physician assisted suicide is important because it lets people be in control of their lives, and they have a say as to when they want to die. People have the right to choose what they want and assisted suicide should be no different. If someone wants to end their life based on extreme pain and physical suffering, they should have the right to do so. For people that do choose to end their lives, they should be able to do it in little to no pain. By keeping assisted suicide illegal, people are finding ways to kill themselves that require unimaginable physical and mental pain. Lastly, the legalization of assisted suicide ensures that if people want to end their suffering they can. It is cruel for people to not be able to end suffering because they are in pain until they die. By legalizing this, people may have a better future knowing that, if they are in chronic pain in the future with no cure to their condition, they can end their suffering whenever they want.
