The state of Pennsylvania should require schools to offer a physical education class. Offering a physical education class has many benefits like shaping a healthier lives or the students, bringing about more happiness in students' lives, and helps students achieve academically.
One reason the state of Pennsylvania should require schools to offer a physical education class is because it improves the students’ overall health. With the exercise a student mainly does in the class, they can reduce their risk of heart disease. Exercise can counteract major risks of coronary heart disease like high blood pressure and obesity. A student can use this class to his/her benefit and decrease their risk of getting a heart disease. The exercise a student does in a physical education class can also improve the students’ physical fitness. It is highly recommended that kids should get at least 60 minutes of exercise a day. It has been proven in one study that exercising can actually act as a stress reliever. When partaking in a physical activity, a person can boost the production of endorphins. School can be very stressing for students with tests and exams and the like, but with a physical education class, students can use it to their advantage as a stress-busting method. The act of exercising is also proven to improve one's sleep. One’s sleep is often disrupted by stress, depression, and anxiety. Students can use the physical education class to improve their sleep to be more successful in school if they are getting their required sleep.
