Have there been any group projects where someone has suffered from a bad grade that they had no control over, or gotten an undeserved high mark? Now it will be explained why there should not be graded group projects in schools. I believe that there should not be graded group projects in schools, as people can be carried through the project and receive an equal grade, people have the option to delete someone else's work, and an uncooperative member can affect the entire group. Firstly, someone can be carried through the project for an equal grade. If there are group projects, there needs to be an easy way to tell who has completed/contributed what to the project. Secondly, the others in the group may have the option to delete other’s work. This is especially a problem now that many projects are slideshow presentations, and there should not be an option to edit other’s work, only suggest, or possibly there could be an easy way to restore specific items. This would be a good improvement to these programs such as Google Presentations and Powerpoints. If they cannot make that a way to save work, then these programs should not be used to work on group projects. Lastly, people say that it is good to work as a team and deal with problems, or that these things are minor issues that don’t happen often. I strongly disagree, as just recently, there has been a group assignment where a single person has turned the assignment in late and no one else had control over it, and we were all penalized for it. This is a problem that happens often and only one person can mess up the grades for everyone! There is no way around it, as this can be a problem for anyone. This is not a way to go about schoolwork, and you cannot just say that it is unfair because if you have no control over what happens it should not count towards or against you, especially if it isn’t your
