The World of Games Today, we are at the peak of our technological growth. Therefore, videogames are faster and more realistic than ever before. Videogames should be regulated by the government because they are not deemed art and are not protected under the first amendment. I will prove this with defining commerce, social aspect and technological. Last year in 2016, videogames generated over 91 billion dollars’ worldwide. Evaluating why are videogames made today we see that they are absolutely commerce. The giants of the videogame market today are led by men who want to make money. Even when videogames are free they are powered by ads driven to make money. Videogames are becoming virtual reality. They are more lifelike than ever! We need the government to regulate because video game makers are more worried about revenues rather than the effects of video games on society. The issue is, anyone can make any game without regulations and with that, the amount of people that play and use video games is only going to go up. I understand that video games have their own system of ratings but, honestly anyone who wants to sell anything will do what they can to increase their profits. Consumers do not have the resources to properly evaluate every game. Just like vehicles, we should not trust solely the producers or manufactures, we always need to compare and contrast government regulations on vehicles. The same is with the video game industry, is not any different than any other type of market. Their main objective is to sell video games.
