Year-Round Schooling Summer break is great. We all think so. But when you walk into Algebra 1 your first day back at school and the teacher says, “Pop quiz! Lets see what you know!” And that’s the moment when you realize that you don’t remember anything from the previous year.
I just never got the whole idea of opening school so early in the middle of our summer and expect us to be ready and “learning-minded”. That's why whenever I jump into the month of August, I knew I would have to say my last goodbyes to summer, and if school could start after Labor Day, then it would definitely be a dream turned to reality. Not only would this make me happy, but it would definitely make many parents happy as well. Many parents work during the summer time and if that were the case every year, then there would definitely be no way of spending time with their children. I remember the time when I, myself had undergone this type of experience, for example my Dad was always busy during the summer time and he would always tell me that we would go at least one place during the summer.
Swimming in West Point Lake is one way I relax and calm my nerves. Some people may have the perspective of the lake being disgusting because it is filled with squishy mud and it is filthy, but I view it as being a relaxation resort. The water from the lake is a refreshment to my parched skin, and the view of the lake’s surroundings scream beautiful words to my frustrating ears. While I swim, I just ponder on letting all my worries go one stroke at a time. Swimming also relaxes me because when I am in the water it feels as if heavy weights are lifted off my shoulders.

You can see a major difference in students from right before spring break and right after it. Without this life-saving break, I think students and teachers would go insane. A Typical spring break for me would be to sit around watching TV all day and having a couple naps. I wouldn 't mind hanging out with friends

Life experience has taught me that perseverance is integral to keep a community progressing towards its goals. Perseverance is at my very core. My life has been dominated by competitive swimming for the last fourteen years, filled by long, hard, lonely practices for two to three hours at a time. Looking at the same straight black line at the bottom of the pool, except for an occasional reprieve to look at the ceiling when doing backstroke. What sane person would subject themselves to what appears to be torture?
