There are many factors that lead me to Loyola Academy. The variety of activities, clubs, and service opportunities all contributed. However, two things stood out over everything else. One of those things is the bond I saw between students and teachers. As I toured other schools, students did not have the same amount of interaction and participation in the school community. The level of enthusiasm in the students at Loyola made an outstanding difference for me.
Something that sets Loyola apart from other institutions, I believe, is the sense of community it has. Something that makes school more than an obligation is a community, friendship, and a certain level of energy. When I came to Loyola’s campus during an open house and fine arts night, I saw that. Religion is the other huge factor for me personally. Coming from a Lutheran school, I’ve grown up praising God at least five days a week. As I toured public schools, I realized that my time worshipping God in school would come to a halt. I believe that I have become a big part of the community and created more opportunities for myself, fellow classmates, and teammates. One of the things I am most proud of is when I became the first girl’s basketball student manager in my school. Before this, I had wanted to be on the team but didn't have the physical drive to play. This has given me the opportunity to strengthen my relationships with my classmates and especially teammates. At Loyola, I’ve seen the various opportunities to interact with others and create friendships. I am specifically interested in the journalism department and service project operations.
