Strategic Expansion Options for Rogers To answer this week’s journal questions, I attempt to make suggestions for a few possible ways how Rogers Communications Canada Inc., the company where I currently work, could potentially expand. While I do so, I greatly rely on the information that is available in our assigned textbook (Ritson, 2013). The company “is a leader in providing cutting-edge communications services and solutions to both consumer and business customers” (Boruzs, 2023) in Canada, with no international operations. However, while it provides wireless services all across the country, its internet and television services are only available in three provinces, out of the ten, on the east coast and in Ontario (“Our Bundles,” n.d.; …show more content…

However, as Rogers only provides residential services only in three provinces even in Canada, I have my reservations whether the company has enough expertise to successfully enter a foreign market. Therefore, in my opinion, the only feasible option for international expansion would be to acquire a smaller telecommunications services provider in another country. The most logical option would be the United States, due to the similarities in culture and consumer behaviour, as well as the relatively high number of such companies. At the same time, as Rogers is currently trying to expand within Canada, such venture may draw attention away from the domestic strategic plans, and eventually the Rogers-Shaw merger may fail due to an effort to expand internationally.
