A dilemma such as racism and discrimination has surfaced the United States for many decades. People also speculate that the election of the new president plays a role in racial hierarchy. In the book, “We Gon’ Be Alright” Jeff Chang explains racial conflict in the country. He talks about the African American experiences and their struggles in the United States. He also talks about the difference compares his life as the majority in Hawaii to moving to California for college. There have been many talks about affirmative action and how it relates to the topic of inequality. “For a long time, the debate over an affirmative action was a proxy for discussing race and inequality.’ (Chang, 20) At first, affirmative action wasn’t a term used for equality between different races, but now it sparks up conversation what people need to do to get their rights. Many black families moved to the suburbs for the same reason as other white families, but they didn’t know they weren’t being treated the same way. “Even if Prince George’s County suburbs were high income, they too had been redlined by race.” It was this way all across the country.
