The responsibility of developing positive relationships between the school, community, and parents include administration to include the superintendent, principals, teaching staff, and all non-instructional staff employed by the school. Each member of the staff has responsibility to some degree to develop and help maintain positive relations within the community. The role of the superintendent should be that of the leader. This role is the most important dealing with school and community relations. The superintendent is the liaison between parents and the schools if there are problems that are not resolved between the two. In addition, it is often the superintendent that sets the vision of the district and is the primary spokesman for the entire district. Effective communication can prevent many problems from arising in the district, and it is important to take the time to make sure that everyone understands what is going on in the district. A second way for educators to communicate effectively is a type of nonverbal communication, and it is what they put in print. Educators should pay attention to the tone that they set in texts, emails, or other printed materials, as many can be offended by the tone set by these printed messages. Another way to communicate effectively is to make sure language barriers are not a concern. Any stakeholder that has a language barrier should be provided with a memo in his or her native language which can easily be done through a translator service online.
