I’m a very determined person when it comes to my education, my career, and helping others. When I decided that I wanted to become a surgeon I chose to pursue the best education I could get, to fearlessly take on new opportunities to be the best surgeon I could be, and most importantly I chose to get a career where I could help people. To help me along my way, I chose to take control of my education in 8th Grade by applying to Gloucester County Institute of Technology’s Allied Health Program much to the surprise of my parents. I forgot to inform them until about a week before I got my acceptance letter. GCIT’s Allied Health program is associated with various hospitals and colleges such as Cooper University Hospital, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Kennedy Hospital Systems, Rowan University, Seton Hall University, Temple University, Virtua Health Systems, Widener University, and more. My high school experience involved having all honors and college classes. Of which, many of my grades were high enough to be transferred as credits to Rutgers. I had to wake up at 4am to get ready for school, my dad would drop me off at my sister’s house (he had to go to work in the early morning), my sister or her husband would drop me off at the Deptford mall at around 7am, and I’d sit on the cold bench, catch my first bus, wait 20 minutes in the cold again, catch my second bus, then walk 5 minutes to the campus, 30-60 minutes early to class. I did have a low GPA as a result, 2.3. However, I kept my biology grade up at a B+. However, while I still had to take the bus to get home, I showed my true colors my second semester and I got a 3.56 GPA making the Dean’s
