This topic fits the relationship between Erik and his brother Paul in the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor. “Erik's choices affect the development of Paul as the main character.” This is shown through Erik when he does menacing things to Paul like Spray Paint, Death, and Making people laugh at someone. Erik sprays painting Paul’s eye’s effects on the development of Paul’s character. This affects him when he is a little boy getting ready to play outside when his brother and his brother's friend approach him. Erik says, “‘You’re going to have to pay for what you did.”(Bloor 263). Every day Paul felt bad for himself because he couldn’t remember how he got his glasses he thought that it was his fault that he lost his vision because everyone had told him that he started into an Eclipse too long and went blind from it. Overall Erik spraying Pauls’ eye’s affects his character by making him wear glasses for the rest of his life. After Erik spray painted Paul’s eye he thought that he would be able to cover it up because Paul wouldn’t be able to remember he made fun of him by calling him Eclipse Boy. This moment happens when Erik and Paul are on the bus and Erik calls out “Hey, Eclipse Boy” (Bloor 34). This has an effect on Paul because everyone started laughing at him about his glasses and they only saw a kid with big glasses, not anything else. This effect his personality because after that Paul was scared to stand up for himself and he always thought about him and his glasses and how big they
