As of today, Target has more than 1800 retail stores and 38 distribution centers in the United States. The first official store was opened in 1962 in Roseville Minnesota and have thrived every since. I will be analyzing Target’s financial statements and communicating the results to our decision makers (Target 2017).
Unlike their US counterparts who enjoy one-stop shopping, Canadian shoppers prefer to buy from multiple stores. Target should have taken this factor into account prior to entering the US market. Target’s recovery in Canada would really benefit from price reduction since quite many customers complained of higher prices than corresponding Target stores in the US. Also, Target Canada should have a similar range of products as those in Target’s US shops. The survival of Target in Canada can also benefit from effective and intense competitive measures such as cut prices, wide range of products, and filled shelves.

Target’s portfolio of owned and exclusive brands is also its strength, which allow retailer to a valuable differentiating lover in high competitive retail environment.
Following a buyout of Canadian Zeller’s locations, Target has begun to prepare these locations for opening as new Target stores; the first Target stores outside of the continental US. Targets low prices but high quality has allowed it to become one of the largest and most successful retailers in the US, which will be continued with our Canadian expansion.
