There are so many opinions on what qualities or characteristics a teacher should possess and what kind of personalities would make a good teacher. The list can go on forever. These are just a few qualities that I believe define good teachers organization and structure. He or she should be understanding as well as patient . Along with these qualities, I believe that teachers should love what they do, because are the ones that are responsible for shaping the lives of young children.

A teacher should be organized as well as have structure in the classroom, but at the same time be spontaneous to keep the kids interested. A teacher that is well organized, ready everyday with lesson plans and materials will be more productive. Creating structure in a classroom will help a teacher be effective when teaching and will help the students stay focused ready to learn. He/she should understand that their students may have a diverse background making them different and every child may learn at their own pace. They must be able to put themselves in the students shoes to better understand what the student is feeling and thinking so that they can effectively get the child to comprehend what is being taught. They must be able to repeat and reinforce direction without showing frustration. Last year my son had a little girls in his class that was not understanding the math assignment. I watched the teacher explain this assignment over to her about 10 times. Through empathy the teacher showed the little girl that it was important to her that the she grasped the concept, also that she was not going to give up on her. When that little girl finally understood, she had the biggest smile from ear to ear with a joyful look of “I did
