A large group of students in the United States makeup a large population of English language learners. Students who are considered English language learners undergo many challenges in their education, and without the necessary support and resources from their educators it can make it hard for them to succeed. A teacher plays a significant role in the success of a child, and it is crucial for them to be able to provide the proper education to students whose first language is not English. It is also very important for teachers to understand the challenges that these students are facing. Having empathy towards the students allows for the teacher to create better connections and relationships to better help them.
Teaching New York magazine says that only 6% of people get the job they wanted as a child. I’ve wanted to be a teacher my whole life. I’ve always wanted to help people grow and develop. My teachers always used to tell me I’d be an amazing teacher. When we would do group projects at school, I loved it because I got to stand up and tell these people something they may or may not already know!
Teaching was not something I originally thought of when I started school, but when I got accepted here I realized that I could be the Mrs. DeWeese to another child and be able to influence them the same way that I was. Teaching and helping middle school age children is my dream and I feel that I have the patience and passion to be able to teach them. With all the different types of bullying these days, especially cyber-bullying and peer-pressure I hope that one day I am able to become a school counselor; so that I can help more students who struggle with the pressures of middle
Ever since I was young I have felt a calling to become an Elementary Teacher. I have discovered that I love working, teaching, and playing with children. I love watching and helping them them grow, develop, and achieve new goals. Being a teacher allows me to combine my passion for caring and working with children and my passion for different subjects of schooling.
I want to make a difference in the education world and in children's lives. Being a teacher is such a difficult, yet rewarding experience. Teachers have the power and the influence to change children's lives. I want to be a mentor to kids who need me. I want to be someone who brings out the best in children and helps them reach their full potential.
There are several key points that teachers, (especial new teachers) need to know and understand in regards to the community, district, school, their classroom and students. Knowing and understanding contextual characteristic of these points of information can affect how educators teach and interact with their students, fellow academic professionals and the community they teach in. Knowing, understating and being able to apply this information where applicable, will increase my effectiveness as a teacher. This gaining of knowledge will help me develop and implement positive and effective curriculum and interventions. The more knowledgeable, the more effective as a teacher I will be.
I believe that every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world we live in. As a future high school teacher, I will make it my goal to help students develop their potentials by believing in them as capable individuals; but more importantly, it will be key in getting the students to believe in themselves, in that they can succeed in any task they come across by working hard and putting effort into those tasks. Some students may not have a strong support system at home and they will probably need more support from the teachers in their classrooms in order for them to see the full potential they are capable of possessing. I will assist my students in discovering who they are, so they can express their own opinions and nurture their own ideas. It will be my job as a teacher to make my students feel empowered, to where they can feel that they have the opportunity to do well in school, and life overall.
Jonan Holbrook, Janice Carter, and Jesse Robinson are three monumental factors that inspired me to become an educator. Through their own unique approaches to education, each of these teachers have significantly influenced my life and my decision to become a teacher. From reading books inside of a big, red bathtub in kindergarten to writing about the Civil Rights Movement in eighth grade, each of these teachers have provided me with an unmatched level of inspiration and support that has motivated me to accomplish many goals in life, including becoming a teacher. As a shy kindergartener, I had no clue how quickly my attention would become captivated by the charismatic and loving personality of my kindergarten teacher, Jonan Holbrook.
I believe that all of the students who enter my classroom can and will succeed. It’s my responsibility to help all of my students reach their full potential, gain knowledge, and skills that they will need in their everyday lives. The teaching in my classroom is student centered and the students should be accountable for their behavior and learning. As a teacher, I’m able to help my students on their quest for knowledge, acquire communication skills, critical thinking skills, and problem solving skills which will allow my students to be life-long learners. By allowing my students to use the tools and their knowledge to discover and implement through other outlets to problem solve.
When it come to teaching there is various thing that come with it. But teaching for me is more than that, helping and molding students to what they desire to be in the future. (or desire for themselves that can help them not only today but in the future.) That way I am helping young minds discover new and interesting things about themselves and life that they were never exposed to. Growing up there were various of influences as teachers whether it was at school, home or even church.
As a student, it’s easy to assume teachers just stand in front of the classroom and give information. However, now that I’m a college student pursuing a career in teaching my perspective has changed. I know that being a teacher is so much more than just giving a student information. For instance, being a teacher is very demanding because you must be diverse in many different teaching methods to ensure that each child is learning. I’ve learned that it is necessary for a teacher to develop a type of partnership with both the students and the parents to make sure the student is learning properly.
I want to teach because I desire to make an impact not only in the field of education, but also in a child’s life. Without an education our future generations will be going downhill as productive members of society, and that is why a teacher’s role in society is crucial. I want to teach because I want to revamp how everyone sees learning- I aspire to make learning exciting. As a teacher, I aim to be an inspiration for my students, but also for future teachers, for the reason that teachers have the capability of collectively, and individually, changing the world.
Many people tend to ask me why I selected teaching and my response is simply because it gives me an opportunity to change someone’s life. Throughout much of my years there has been a constant struggle to figure out my purpose in life. Will I be remembered when I’m gone as a good person or a horrible greedy one? Truth is that teaching gives me the chance to change a life and I do not want to be striving for riches, but instead create opportunities to save lives. I love kids and seeing someone succeed due to hard work and dedication is something I have always admired and enjoyed witnessing.
Teachers are underappreciated, underpaid (“Why Teachers’ Salaries Should be Doubled”), and undermined. Despite all of this, they do their best to make sure that their students get the best. It takes an insane amount of school, a plethora of methodology classes, and an indescribably large amount of patience to get the piece of paper that opens up countless doors for a successful future. It is all well worth the work, though. Being able to see the changes you are making, the knowledge you are sharing, and the lives you are changing makes all of the work look less like a chore and more like an obstacle.
I am pursing a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I am passionate about education and excited to share the joy of learning with students. The perspective of wonder and sense of excitement that children bring into education motivates me daily. Teaching can leave a lasting impression in a child’s life and offers a special opportunity to shape the bright young minds of future generations. While many professions can be impactful, I believe the qualities of the person in the career position to be the most influential.
