I believe being a teacher is such an important job. The desire to fill young minds with knowledge and excitement about learning! I have always known that I wanted to make a difference in society and I think teaching would be a great way to do that! I thoroughly enjoy helping people and through teacher cadet I could assist the teachers and the students in a positive way.
Ever since I could remember, I have always dreamed of becoming a teacher. When I was little I would pretend I was the teacher and my friends were my students. For the longest time I wanted to get my degree in elementary education and become a second grade teacher. I loved working with younger children and second grade was my favorite year in school. However, in high school, I changed my mind.
According to the patient representative career outlook (U.S. Department of Labor, 2016), individuals interested in pursuing this type of career are interested in helping people and teaching. Personality traits that these individuals possess include “concern for others, dependability, self control, attention to detail, independence, and integrity” (U.S. Department of Labor). According to my personality and traits questionnaire, my personality is compatible with this career, as it was one of the career choices I was given. There were also many other options that I was interested in. I received the highest score in the social category which surprised me because I think of myself as more of an introvert.
Education is one of the most important careers in our world today. Without good educators, our society would not be as advanced as it is. Teachers help to create the great minds that improve our world and make it a better place to live. This is why I chose to be a teacher. I want a part in making the world a better place one child at a time.

A potential career I have always been interested in would have to be teaching. I enjoy working with people and especially teaching people new things. I have always admired some teachers, but some on the other hand, they just never sparked my interests. Many people dreamed of being teachers when they are younger, but how many actually stick with their young dreams? I was that kid, the one who lost interest, but I found my interest once again.
Ever since I was eight years old, I knew that I wanted to teach. It wasn’t until high school however that I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher into the special education career field. I discovered that I want to help people who have struggles academically and socially. By becoming a special education teacher, I hope to help build the student’s self esteem and realize their worth. My personal and educational goal is making a difference in the children with special needs by providing them with more educational and work opportunities, and simply making them be happy.
I will never forget my great experiences throughout high school, but college is where a new chapter of my life begins. College is where I am challenged to study and learn, have the opportunity to make lifelong friends and grow as an independent woman. I am excited to have new experiences and get a great education. Learning and studying have always been very important to me. I worked hard to earn honorable grades and standardized test scores to attend the college of my dreams.
A experience in my life that I feel I will influence my work and goals at Colorado Christian University is my prior college experience. I feel as though at this time in my life I would like to solely focus on my academics. From working in the workforce and seeing how much a college degree helps when it come to job openings, experience and education. I feel as though it has made me more determine to finish my degree to advance my career. Sometimes I image the quality of a job and position I would obtain just based on my prior work experience combine with my degree and it just pushes me every time to work harder.
When I was younger I always wanted to teach. I would play teacher with my younger brother and cousin in my mother’s den. I would give each one of them a piece of paper and a pencil and I would be the teacher. I chose to be a teacher because I enjoy helping children learn, I know I can make a difference in a child's life. I want to be a positive influence in their life both classroom and in the real world.
I do plan on going to college, and hopefully it will be a large university. I have my sights set on the University of Alabama, but I’m keeping my mind open to as many opportunities as possible. Things like community college are definitely not ruled out, but I would love to have the experience of a large campus community. As for my major, I’m interested in doing something in English or Science, as well as looking into Secondary Education majors.
Why do people want to become teachers? There is low pay, long hours, little benefits, students have more rights than teachers. I want to be a teacher because I want to make a difference and change every child’s heart that I come into contact with. Teaching is one of those jobs where you get to be an undercover angel, because you are able to effect so many different lives by caring and teaching. You matter not only to one person in an office, but for 18-20 kids.
I am pursing a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I am passionate about education and excited to share the joy of learning with students. The perspective of wonder and sense of excitement that children bring into education motivates me daily. Teaching can leave a lasting impression in a child’s life and offers a special opportunity to shape the bright young minds of future generations. While many professions can be impactful, I believe the qualities of the person in the career position to be the most influential.
