Technology Should Not Be Used in the Classroom Today’s education system has migrated farther and farther away from human interaction. This is largely due to the availability of technology. The recent influx of technology in the classroom has led to many setbacks. It is now a competition between schools to see who has the newest and best technology. This race mentality has left the students who either can't afford or do not have access to technology in the dust. Technology should not be used in the classroom because the cost of implementing technology can take a great toll on school districts, it can be a great distraction in the classroom, and it limits the actual learning that could take place without technology in the classroom. First of all, the amount of money it takes to install technology in a school district is proof that technology should not be used in schools. Money is a significant resource for implementing technology into a school district. Unfortunately, many districts can simply not afford to pay those costs. However, even if the school district is wealthy, technology still takes a large chunk of money out of schools. If the students or teacher in a classroom are inexperienced with technology, the class will spend more time struggling with getting technology to work than actually learning. It is not uncommon for teachers to have a classroom filled with student with all different levels of technology skills. This can cause valuable time to be wasted trying to get everyone on the same page. As said in an article by Julia Klaus, “Technology should be used to supplement the classroom curriculum, but should not be used as the sole source of learning”
