Texting while driving and driving while under the influence of alcohol is a trend up to this date with teenagers assuming they can text and drive and try driving home drunk and remain safe. I consider this a national epidemic that no one can stop from spreading. I've had it with people not paying attention to the road and causing people's lives. Two top killers in our country that are similar in the deaths of humans but are different in the act of death. They both cause accidents and are distractions but are different in the state of mind of the person driving. Drunk driving is an intoxication while texting and driving is more of a habit.

It's something irresponsible that costs so many lives because of ignorant people. Alcohol is a depressant drug that slows the central nervous system, including the brain. Driving under the influence of alcohol differs from texting and driving because when you consume alcohol it can stay in your system for up to twenty four hours or more. It can affect your health the next day. Texting and driving doesn't have symptoms in general while drinking and driving does because when you drink you feel more relaxed and drowsy, and it can cause you to fall asleep while driving and cause a accident. Your concentration lowers making you react slow to anything, but it can also make you over confident making you take risky moves. I've been a victim of being a passenger of a drunk driver and it was one of the scariest days of my life. I was eight years old and my cousin drank twenty beers and he was driving and I saw the car in front of us stop, he didn't have the reaction and we hit the car in front. He didn't have a license so he decided to drive away and we drove into Florida's turnpike and he was swerving lanes almost causing multiple accidents. He luckily didn't cause any more accidents and didn't get stopped. Stricter laws have been passed that have controlled people to reduce driving while under the influence of alcohol. The number of accidents and deaths have reduced to twenty five percent. While texting and driving
