What is a Soda Ban? you may ask yourself. A soda ban was an idea produced by Mayor Bloomberg on banning sugary drink that is larger than 16 ounces and they were not to be sold at any food-service places in New York City. At any restaurants that has a self-serve drink fountain, no cups larger than 16 ounces will be allowed to take. Giving people a soda ban would be very affective for the health rate of everyone. Mr. Bloomberg wants to decrease the obesity ratify putting a Soda ban on any drink that is larger then 16 oz, which, was later on rejected. “Mayor Bloomberg’s efforts to support New Yorkers in making healthy food choices, and recognize the city’s outrageous rates of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes — especially among communities of color.” Lower income neighborhood have the higher rate of obesity due to the lack of high income for them to by healthier items at store instead of sugary filled drinks and junk food. …show more content…

Obesity is one of the leading causes to heart attacks and health issues. “Obesity increases the risk for heart disease and stroke. But it harms more than just the heart and blood vessel system. It's also a major cause of gallstones, osteoarthritis and respiratory problems.” Many doctor have linked the two together, many death have been cause by obesity too. I know many may disagree with me , because people will find other ways to still have sugar in their system. Americans have a huge intake on sugars not just in drinks that have been on sale by many food-services but they can always but two drinks (or more) that will pass the 16 ounces on the ban. The higher the the obesity rate will equal the less people in the population, due to the high death rate and fatal actions that having too much sugar in your system over
