A question some people have and what Law Enforcement classes ask is What is Community policing? What does it do? Why do we have it? Why does it not work so well now? These questions are asked because most people do not know what community policing is and what it does for the people. It also seems that nowadays there has been a divide in the communities that the police have to work in. This divide that has formed is years of different problems arising in the community between them and the police, this divide makes it extremely hard for cops to do their job in the community, to keep the public safe. Right now in the present cops are disliked and treated very horrible in the community and by the government. Citizens don’t talk to them, help them, get violent or verbal with cops, and see them as scum. The government gives them low pensions depending on city, very low pay even though they are out in the city risking their lives on a day to day bases, and cut founding in the police departments. A few other relationships to build that would help are schools/education system that is in the community, be a part of community parks and recreation who plan events and ask to set up a booth or an area for people to come and talk to the officers and have officers from different areas of the department, set up interviews with the community or get togethers/meeting for community centures for anyone who is intrested to know more about their
