Gun control is and will be beneficial to America’s security and safety. The US has been seen to be drastically more unsafe than other countries with stronger gun laws. “Gun violence is a crisis. 117,000 Americans are shot every year, a rate that outpaces our peer by order of magnitude” (Gun Laws Matter).
Would you rather walk around with a gun in your pocket or your family carry around a pocket of regret? Everyone has the liberty of the second amendment but it seems that some people are trying to take that away. There are pro-gun control activists that believe there should be more rules and regulations in place in order to own a gun to cut down on the number of shootings and violent crimes. The Second Amendment, and the regulations already in place, are more than enough to establish who is allowed to own a gun. Taking guns away from the civilians won’t fully eliminate mass shootings.
According to the website “shooting tracker” it tracks the mass shootings in America, and in the past year there has been an overall of 355 mass shootings. In a year there are 365 days and the last mass shooting was on December 2nd in San Bernardino. To put in perspective, there has been 355 shootings in one year which means there has been a shooting almost once a day the past year. Gun Control debates cannot come to a conclusion on whether to tighten the use of firearms or leave it to the Second Amendment of our constitution. Almost all of the violent crimes that have appeared this year included the use of a firearm.
In the US specifically, studies show that the stricter gun laws are in a state, the lower the amount of deaths related to guns occur (Graham). While many believe that further restrictions on guns would not be feasible, both Australia and the United Kingdom managed to highly restrict or ban guns from their nations in order to reduce gun-related deaths and crime (Graham). Australia was able to rid the country of around 650,000 guns and their rate of robberies per 100,000 people sank from about 100 to 60 (cite later 1). This program of complete gun confiscation costed Australia $230 million. If a program of the same relative scale were to be done in the States, it would cost the government around $4 billion (Rieck).
Not only would crime skyrocket if gun control was made law, but the checks and balances that restrict the power held by the government would, over time, be completely thrown and unbalanced. Even in recent events, one can see much haunting evidence supporting the notion that the government feels it has the ability to confiscate control from free people, partly because of the people's lack of ability to protect and provide for themselves. With the total number of incidents related to gun violence topped off at over 41,000 in 2015 alone (Gun Violence Archive), gun control remains a heavily advocated but sensitive topic within the United States. The right to bear arms is protected under the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution which reads, "A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"(Second Amendment). This shows that gun control laws do not work as stricter laws in the United Kingdom caused even more murders due to the fact that citizens were left unarmed with no self defense. Banning or imposing strict gun laws may prevent law abiding citizens from purchasing guns because the process may be too complex. Let alone, increasing gun control will require background checks and other forms of identification and information. Gun control advocates want to create universal background checks and a national gun registry which is a huge invasion of privacy and information of an individual. This is illegal as, "Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has made it clear that a "national gun registry" is illegal and won't be part of any Democratic gun bill" (ABC News).
To some people gun control is a crime problem, to others it is a rights problem. Gun control is a safety problem, an education issue, a racial problem, and a political issue, among others. Within each of these problems there are those who want more gun control laws and those who want less. On both sides of this issue opinions are so different. Gun control laws should be reduced in order to provide more protection for people.

Gun control has decreases the amount of gun violence in the United States. But if you think about it, if there is gun control or not criminals will always find a way to get a gun. The problem is that criminals can get guns. Everyone else can have gun and be fine as long as they know to use it properly and safely. All it takes is a little knowledge in firearms and then people will be smarter about everything.
With more gun control laws, there would be a reduction in gun deaths such as suicide, homicide, and unintentional deaths. From 1999 to 2013, there were 464,033 deaths caused by guns (gun-control.procon.org). This is a worrying statistic, as it shows how many lives have been taken at the hand of guns.
