While President Obama has called ISIS the “face of evil,” some people suggest that the President is not doing enough to bring about the terrorist organization’s downfall. Some analysts even insist that the attack on Paris was a direct attack on NATO, and they believe it is time to go to war. Pope Francis actually suggests the West is already at war, that we are facing some kind of “World War 3.” If we are in a third world war, then some question whether should be doing something immediately, but caution should never be mistaken for weakness. It’s difficult to go to when you don’t fully understand who you are fighting. We are effectively at war with ISIS, as a US coalition has been bombing targets in Syria and Iraq for over a year. It is difficult to fight ISIS because, unlike Al Qaeda, the Islamic State seeks to build a caliphate. The positive news is that ISIS is believed to be fairly contained. The term “World War” is unhelpful because it implies the world is at war with each other rather than multiple states being at war with a terrorist organization. ISIS has brought about one of the most diverse and powerful alliances in history consisting of the US, Russia, Britain, France, and Iran. The most recent problem ISIS has presented with the Paris attacks is what to do with incoming Syrian refugees. Some politicians suggest religious screening, but that information's difficult to verify. It seems that refugees will suffer because of the actions of a few corrupt
