As many countries joined WWII, many of them were finding new ways to protect themselves. Thus the atomic bomb was born. The Germans found a way to split a uranium atom that created a huge explosion thanks to famous scientist, Albert Einstein. It wasn't long before the U.S. heard of this and started doing the same thing. In 1941, America hired a German physicist ad created a secret project called The Manhattan Project.
At this time period, America was the only country that had the technology to compose such a weapon. Therefore, no country would have the idea to engage in confrontation with the United States. America had the ability to conquer the world with the nuclear weapons.
Everyone has heard of the infamous serial killer Ted Bundy. Theodore Robert Bundy was an American serial killer who many suspect has killed almost 100 young women and girls during the 1970s and possibly earlier. He was born Theodore Robert Cowell on November 24, 1946 at the Elizabeth Lund Home for Unwed Mothers. His mother was Eleanor Louise Cowell, who went by her middle name Louise. Ted never admitted to knowing who his father was but his mother had said it was a sailor she knew briefly as Jack Worthington.
In document E, Harry S Truman discusses that the United States knew that other countries were on race to try to invent the atomic bomb so they were looking for way to show that they had a powerful weapon in their power. The United States wanted to use Japan as an example to show other countries that they had the atomic before them and it worked. In addition in The United States want to use the atomic to display that they are a powerful country. They wanted to impress the Soviet Union in order to keep them from attacking
The Atom Bomb. After reading these articles, we should be asking a lot of questions. Was it necessary to drop these bombs or should we have gone on foot? What was the worst of the evils? Who would suffer the most from going in and taking over.
In the course of the race for atomic energy, the United States achieved its goal of beating Germany for the atomic bomb. By having a committed team of scientists working on The Manhattan Project, we were able to drop two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This action showed that the United States was a force to be reckoned with and proved that it was indeed a world power. The article, “Stimson on the Bomb”, taken from the Atomic Heritage Foundation, states, “On August 6 one B-29 dropped a single atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Three days later, a second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki and the war was over.
Should we have dropped The Atomic Bomb? The majority of the people would say yes but the other disagree with what we had done during that time. Yes, we should have bomb them because they killed so many people when they bombed pearl harbor. I feel pity for bombing them only because we killed 80,000 people when it happened.
Over 416,800 US soldiers died in war world two. In August 1945 president Truman decided to drop two atomic bombs on Japan. I think he did the right decision. Thousands of americans died in world war two, Japan bombed pearl harbor and it was necessary to end the war. My first main point is, we saved thousands or maybe millions of americans.
Decision to Drop the Atomic Bomb World War II was one of the most destructive conflicts in all of human history, with an estimated 60 million deaths. It involved the axis powers made up of Germany, Japan, and Italy battling against the allied powers of Britain, the Soviet Union, and the United States after the bombing of pearl harbor. This war was caused not only by the harsh terms of the Treaty of Versailles, but also the economic depression in Germany leading to conquest to regain former power. War began in 1939 when Germany invaded Poland, the United States having been provoked by Japan ended the war by dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. A war can be considered just if it is a nation defending its homeland or protecting an oppressed
In the years between 1939 and 1945 World War II occurred. France and Great Britain were battling against the Axis powers that included Germany, Italy, and Japan. For the beginning of the war, America was remaining neutral until Japan attacked the US navy at Pearl Harbor. America then entered the war on December 8th of 1941, partnering up with France and Great Britain. During the time America was in the war, America was fighting both Japan and Germany on both sides of the world.
I think that the Atomic bomb shouldn’t have been invented but I think dropping the Atomic Bomb was necessary to help and show the danger of it. If the atomic bomb was never dropped anything could have happened Russia could have dealt with it, but if that happened Japan would still be working on military weapons, and try to take of the Pacific again or tag team on America. Since America dropped the Atomic bomb the world learned the power and danger of it, and seeing the survivors and the environment showed that the U.S had no idea on what power they were up against. If the U.S didn’t drop the bomb some other country would figure out the power and try to take over the world with it or end up destroying it. The radiation from the two atomic bombs
Atomic Bomb Thesis I personally believe that the idea of the atomic bombs being necessary to be used on Japan during WWII is completely wrong. I think this way because through the eyes of many soldiers and powerful leaders themselves, Japan was ready to surrender and couldn't continue to fight. The Japanese were willing to negotiate with the allies with certain conditions regarding their emperor. And finally, the bombs themselves weren't even dropped on any military bases or threats to the United States army and instead on cities in Japan.
If you were the president of the United States during a war, and the opposing forces were talking of surrender, would you not jump on even the possibility to negotiate surrender? Would you give them their one condition they ask for and then proceed to kill around 180,000 civilians then give them that one condition to make peace? The answer to both of those questions is no. Although I do believe that ending the war sooner and avoiding invasion is a must, there were other options that in my opinion would have worked as well. The USA did NOT have to drop the Atomic Bomb.
If I had the atomic bomb, I wouldn’t have used it. I would have kept it in a safe area with bolted locks and maximized security to ensure that the bomb would not fall into the wrong hands. There’s really no way to ensure the safety of others with this dangerous weapon because of the mass destruction that it can cause. So, knowing its capability for destruction and the forces of the Axes, I would have never funded the development of the atomic bomb to begin with.
Instead, the atomic bombs were a tragic unnecessary act causing a large amount of death and suffering to civilians in Japan. The bombings on Nagasaki and Hiroshima created a pattern for the use of nuclear weapons in many ways, including the lack of boundaries. The use of these weapons during WWII masked the original use of them. These atomic bombings triggered an arms race between the Soviet Union and the United States, preparing them for a buildup on the use of these weapons. The atomic bombings inspired other countries to create and use nuclear weapons[3], increasing the risk of conflict.
