The GMO Movement is an important topic that needs to be taken seriously. GMO stands for genetically modified organism. GMO is an organism that has had its DNA changed due to engineering uses. GMO is used for making vegetables and fruits grow and get bigger faster. You would not know what produces were GMO in grocery stores because they do not label them. They are not labeled because farmers don't want the consumers to believe it's not healthy. Although in some states they have made it a law to label their products with GMO. GMO has been studied to be not very healthy for the human body. GMO has a lot of food allergy such as decreased nutritional value, increased toxicity, antibiotics resistance. in 1992 the FDA declared the safety of GMO is appropriately save for grocery stores to sell. In 1994 GMO foods were starting to be seen in local grocery stores. By the time it was 1999 over 100 million acres locally in the US were invested with GMO. Before GMO was local there were a lot of protesters outside of the stores disagreeing with their foods. The idea of being “anti GMO” has had a positive impact around the Northeastern area. Many people have actually changed their minds about ‘anti-gmo’ due to protests around the world. In more than almost 60 countries have banned GMO products because they were losing to much many for the government. Many scientist have regretted their decision on the GMO movement because of the health issues. If people were to stop buying GMO products farmers would stop growing GMO cause the waste of money it would cause.
