¨Several critics questioned why the city was making a proposal on sugary drinks a priority when some city schoolchildren have no physical education classes.¨ (Washington TImes) In New York, Mayor Bloomberg placed a law on the sizes of soda citizens are allowed to get. However, this caused a lot of controversy on whether the ban was good or bad. Despite the amount of people supporting the ban´s choice, the ban does have some downsides on it. It is not a good idea to limit the amount of a soda a person can purchase (or propose the ban) because it's not applying to all, it's taking rights away from people, and itś not a big deal. This evidence goes on upon how itś taking the right. Itś not a good explanation or intention to take away something so little to try to support something so big. Also stated in ¨Ban the Ban!,¨ ẗhe author goes on to discuss how the soda ban is surrounding over something huge and not just soda, saying, ¨People might think it’s not important because it is just soda, but it is so much more than that- it is about freedom to make your decisions about what you do and what you put into your bodies.¨ (Stone, 288) Adding to, itś taking the little and simple freedom that everyone should have. The mayor and the government does not have the right to make your decisions that you can make on your own. Itś your body. Only you have control of it.
