Creative nonfiction is about accurate, true and great literature. The Serial Podcast, narrated by Sarah Keonig, is considerable creative storytelling and based completely on authentic stories. With each episode listened to nearly 3.5 million times and being the fastest downloaded podcast ever launched on Apple, Serial made quite the impact. Serial is the reopening of a 1999 murder case. Sarah Koenig is asked to investigate the murder of Hae Min Lee, a homicide victim, supposedly murdered by her former boyfriend, 15 years ago. The alleged murderer, Anad Syed, has been in prison ever since. Keonig was called in to clarify and inspect this case, because after 15 years the entire lies unhindered. For 2, and potentially 3, Keonig sets out to find the truth in this dusty murder case. As this is a murder case, it is kept absolutely authentic. The voice Keonig adapts changes depending on what information she had just dug up, generally when it was positive towards Adnan she spoke in a lighter more cheerful tone. When Adnan would come across, as guilty Keonig would sound unimpressed and almost annoyed. This motivated the audience to share the tone she was providing. The audience wanted to hear Keonig be happy, because the audience wanted Adnan to be innocent. In personal nonfiction, such as Serial the author is very close to the events, like Keonig, requires the author to speak in first person. This makes the Podcast come across as a personal conversation. Though journalism the author is outside the story, requiring third person. Keonig uses a cross of the both to nonfiction and great journalism to supply the audience with an enticing and very true
