Howard also brings up many important factors that play a role in students’ anxiety levels and incorporates them together

THE INTRODUCTION The harshness of University life/studies can put severe physiological pressure on its students. Students having to juggle between work and school to meet both financial and academic requirements can be too much to bear alone. It is for this reason we wish to propose that a depression support group be set up to provide the necessary assistance for students in need. National Institute of Mental Health(NIMH) says that depression is a common but serious mood disorder.
History, types of depression, symptoms, and treatments are all equally important in finding ways to help one who is suffering from depression. As we look back in
I learned throughout the course of this class that there are many components to maintaining a state of well being and that health and wellness aren’t the same thing. I came to understand better the multiple categories of wellness that compose the broad subject in general. We also discussed the various attributes of physical wellness that range from the strength of the heart to the flexibility of our joints. There was a great deal of information that came from this class that will be beneficial to have in the future as it gives multiple tips to keeping oneself in a state of homeostasis. Nutrition and stress management are also huge factors within the balance of things as well.
My interest is in the broader topic of depression. I remember my grandparent’s stories that they would tell having to do with the Depression. My grandpa says that his parents used to make them eat everything on their plate because they (the parents) went through a period of time when there was no food to be put on their plate. This more specific topic actually came from a recent conversation I had with a mother of three who stated that a woman simply cannot be a teacher and a mother at the same time. As an education major, that extremely challenged my perspective.

Depression is a major issue in young adults and teenagers. Depression is feelings of severe despondency and dejection. Depression is different for many people, most people explain it as feeling alone, sad, or thing just feel “off” or “wrong”. Depression is very common in people, mostly teens. They show in it many forms of media and books, an example is Looking for Alaska by John Green and Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.
Umberto Eco in his book “Six Walks in the Fictional Woods” discusses several literature theories, which he originally told to students at the Harvard University. I, mostly, enjoyed reading it, because his vision of literature, his thoughts about books, authors, readers are different from mine, and that is one of the reasons why it is interesting. Of course, I did not understand everything, because Eco uses lots of unknown to me terminology and because of lack of experience from my side in literature and life. To begin with, I want to speak a little bit about two definitions from his first lecture “Entering the Woods.” Eco, there introduces a modal reader.
What is Depression and how does it affect teenagers? Depression, also known as Major Depressive Disorder is a common medical illness that negatively affects how one feels, acts and/ or thinks. (“Teen Mental Health”, 2018) states, “In a one-year period, approximately 7 percent of people will experience Depression. It is most common in women and in young adults, and the first episode often begins in the teen years or early adulthood.” Although Depression is common throughout society, it is different than feeling sad or down; one who deals with depression can not simply ‘snap out of it’.
Good afternoon Mr. Tracey and students. The topic I will be talking to you about is Youth depression. In this presentation, I will take you on a journey through the types of depression youths face, its causes, its symptoms, treatments and the charities that help with addressing the problem. The reason why I asked you for your definition of depression is that your definition may well have been different to mine. The website Reachout.com states; “‘Depression’, which is often diagnosed as 'major depressive disorder ', is the feelings of sadness or a low mood that last longer than two weeks and starts to get in the way of your everyday life.
Health classes should take more of an initiative to put out the idea of mental health awareness and why it's important. They didn’t even touch base on the The spectrum needs to be broadened.
