Superintendent Elliott made some errors in this situation. A couple of the errors were responding to the parent complaint without referring him to the proper level and failing to listen to the principal. The complaint that was made by the parent is something that should have been handled by the building principal. Instead of trying to take care of the situation himself the superintendent he should have led the parent to the correct building level channel first to come to allow them the chance to come to a solution. The building principal should have been able to build a stronger school community relation with this parent by being honest and handling his mistake.
28.08 Continuum of Options for Dispute Resolution What happens when there is a problem? School districts should develop local problem resolution procedures. Parents should be encouraged to present concerns with a district representative. The Department should maintain a system that provides accessibility for investigations of complaints.
Schools must make the school environment one in which young people can learn and students are safe. School officials need to be enabled to enforce discipline and the upholding of the schools rules. Teachers and principals are acting for the parents of the students. Parents do not need a warrant to search their children. School officials are not the police.
In the short story, “The Palace Thief” by Ethan Canin, Canin introduces the character, Hundert, the narrator. Hundert describes himself as moral, humble, loyal, passionate, and a bit regretful. Canin then introduces the second character, Sedgewick Bell, as Hundert describes why Sedgewick Bell is incompetent, thoroughly annoying, a bad influence, and why he has a great disliking towards Sedgewick. After Hundert has had a time of disciplining Sedgewick, this leads toward having a meeting with his father, the Senator. Hundert changes greatly from being a one-dimensional character, to a complex character.
Explain how to manage disagreements with: • Children • Young people • Adults Children and young people You must know when to step in, usually with kids and young people disagreements tend to fix themselves as the younger minds don’t hold grudges as adults do, it’s this quality that allows for disagreements to be resolved as one side makes the compromise. The skill from you is knowing when to step in. Don’t take sides. Let them give their version of events and listen.
In discussing the evolving role of the principal with my assistant principal Kelly Romasco, I learned that data is one of the most important tools that the administration can use. When I asked her in what way the focus has changed the way she works with teachers, I expected her to talk about student data and achievement. Instead she talked about how she uses data on the teachers, especially with their previous “walk-throughs” and observations. She explained that she was as interested in the growth of the teachers as she was with the achievement of the students. This shocked me because when I think of data in education, I immediately think of test scores.
Chapter 1 Educators Under Attack The conventional wisdom in the United States is that our public schools are terrible and that they are getting much worse. This proclamation started in 1983 when the National Commission of Excellence in Education issued its findings "In a report titled A Nation at Risk (pg. 1). " The National commission proclaimed that American educators had dropped victim to an increasing tide of mediocrity that will threaten our future as people and a nation. The report was supplied with warnings of decline, deficiencies, risks, and plight.
A teacher and parent survey will be used to help measure the effectiveness of the school educational program. I will have to ensure that every student and parent know that are important to the success of the school and their voices will be heard, by seeking feedback from the community. The strengths and weaknesses from the survey would be used to identify school goals, along with consensus building. Consensus building will allow for everyone voice to be

The findings presented in this study illustrate as assistant principals make decisions, they use the framework in Figure 2: Decision-Making Framework. While the type of decision will guide the process used, as assistant principals described their decision-making, they described using the resources represented here. Their training, experience, and their collaboration with either other assistant principals or their principal identified as the guiding framework around their decision-making. The type of decision often dictated the process used. For decisions that assistant principals deemed “everyday”, like common discipline infractions, they use their own training or experience.
1. What are the primary issues in this scenario and what information is Principal Miller likely to need in order to demonstrate appreciation for and sensitivity to the diversity in the school community? The primary issues are the quality of instruction received by all students and Principal Miller’s lack of knowledge regarding the political, social, economic, and cultural context of the community. To gain a better understanding of the issues, Mr. Miller will need to collect and review data.
Their only issue was that they forced the children to go outside and participate in recess. The recess aides do not, however, “initiate vigorous growth motor activity” nor do they “help the children develop new skills” (Harms 69). They had effective staff-child interaction but, there were long periods of non-interaction when the teacher was giving direct instruction or the children were supposed to be working silently. Also, the teacher should improve her interactions with children who are upset or anxious. Currently, she gets visibly frustrated and ignores or yells at them.

Dear Dr. Williams I understand that you’re the new superintendent of our school district. I would like to congratulate you on the new job, and welcome you to the Carrollton Farmers Branch School District. Out of the four schools in our district; my son Asad attends Creekview High School, I would like to share some concerns I have that developed in the recent amount of weeks with you. The main concern I have is; one of Asad’s teacher told him he does not have to teach anything to the student, and he will still get paid. My son is also being taught for things that will be on TAKS test, but nothing that really deals with the course.
