With regulations in Europe not beginning as rigorous as the United States, the organization was not as concerned with pollution laws. However, they had a slight issue with the introduction of the automobiles into the United States. In a ploy to pass emissions testing in the United States, Volkswagen attempted to finesse the system and put software on the diesel-powered cars called a defeat device. (Plungis and Hull, 2015) That operating system was utilized in a deceitful manner, causing the vehicle to read as an environmentally friendly product when it was not true.
