Ford company started June 16, 1903. It revolutionized the assembly line. Ford was the (American dream) They had 11 business associates and 28,000 dollars to start with. Their first car was the model A which debuted in Detroit. At the time only, the wealthy could afford the cars. Henry Ford believed that these vehicles would change the world and wanted to price the cars to where even his employees could afford them, as well as the American public.
“I will build a car for great multitude…large enough for a family, but small enough for the individuals to run and care for. It will be constructed of the best materials, but by the best men to be hired and after the simplest designs that modern engineering can devise. It will be low in price that no man making a decent salary will be able to own one, and enjoy with his family the blessings of hours of pleasure in God’s great open spaces” (Henry Ford 1903). This made all the parts and prices of the cars on hand and made manufacturing so much more productive. In 1914, Ford produced 308. 162 cars more than any other manufacture. Production of the model T went from 20,277 vehicles at $780 each. In 1910 585,388 were produced at $360 each. In 1916, the decrease was primarily the result of production and supply chain being almost seamless. But Henry’s dreams didn’t stop there. He believed he could control every aspect by Ford employees; mine ironed from Ford owned pit, to being transported on Ford ships and tractors. Also, being used was Ford cranes to be offloaded to Ford Mills, pressed to make the iron to the steel being used, to produce the steel to manufacture the steel used in their cars and trucks.
