I would love to have the chance to become a member of the WSU community. My plan is to get a degree in Business with a major in Marketing, and an emphasis on Real Estate. Thank you for considering granting me an exception, so I can attain my goal. I have lived in Wichita my whole life. I’d like to carry on the Wichita State University pride and tradition. My mother and uncle both attended WSU. Both of my grandparents graduated from WSU and my grandmother is a Lifetime Alumni Member and active Men’s Basketball supporter.
I am one half of a credit short in math to meet your requirements. After struggling with Algebra 2, my mother and I met with the counselor at East high school. They recommended I take Intermediate Algebra my Senior year and that would comply with the requirements to graduate. I was unaware that it would not qualify me for WSU. This program helped transform me into an independent thinker and determined student. AVID taught me excellent note taking skills, such as Cornell notes and good studying techniques like TRF (tutorial request form) which allowed me to get the experience of small study groups. I aspire to build on these skills and stay focused, so I will be applying for residency at Shocker Hall. I believe I will get the full college experience while living on campus. I am actively involved in sports. For three years, I have been on the East High soccer team and assisted the football and boys’ soccer team as a manager. I have enjoyed playing the violin for seven years and would like to look at continuing with Wichita State. In addition to my participation in extracurricular school activities, I have a part time job that has very flexible hours that will allow me any studying time I will
