Pot or Not? One of the most popular drugs, marijuana, is causing many arguments throughout the United States. The famous drug is legally allowed in about half of the US states. Some states argue that marijuana should be legal for recreational use, some argue for medical use only, and some states do not think that the drug should be legal at all. With all of the advantages and disadvantages being argued about the legalization of marijuana, many different people have many different views about the argument. The dangers of abusing marijuana are more impactful than the benefits, proving that marijuana should not be legal for recreational use, but people should be allowed to use marijuana for medical purposes. Even though many people use marijuana, others might not know what the drug actually is. The drug is dried leaves of the plant cannabis sativa. Multiple names have been given to this addictive plant such as, pot, weed, grass, dope, and many more. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, this drug would not give people the “high” they are looking for without the chemical tetrahydrocannabinol also known as THC.
