Pro Death Penalty
The choice for or against the death penalty is a global debate with proposers and opponents in equal measure. Death penalty law, similarly capital punishment law, caters for matters pertaining death imposition as the sentence for a crime committed. The death penalty sentence applies in homicidal cases, especially where the crime situation is egregious. Alternatively, the punishment would be used in particular instances where the victim survives like the case of child rape, though such circumstances are rare. Any state governing body may prescribe death row sentence in a homicide or case of capital crime. The revision of the United States law bans brutal and bizarre punishment, but a ruling by the Supreme Court outlines that the death penalty does not violate it (McLeod & Stith 525). Also, the Sixth Amendment states that for capital crimes, a jury trial is unnecessary.
The United States government uses numerous methods during execution of the death row prisoners. The plans include hanging, electrocution, use of lethal injections, placement in a gas chamber and shooting. Statistics in 2013 show that 38 of the 39 executions in America used the deadly infusion containing a relatively new drug dubbed pentobarbital mixed with other medications.
