The American Revolution was a war between the American colonists in the 13 colonies and the British loyalists. This Revolution began in 1775 when Great Britain sent soldiers to Concord to seize and look for weapons that were illegal. The colonists wanted to separate from the British Crown because they were angry they did not get the same rights as the British people did after the Glorious Revolution. The American revolution ended in 1781 with the signing of a peace treaty that accepted the independence of the United States. There were many factors that caused the American colonists to fight against Great Britain for independence. One of the main causes of the American Colonists wanting to be free from the British Crown was the Royal Proclamation which was put into effect by King George III. To begin, the Boston Massacre happened because the American colonists were protesting with their slogan “No Taxation Without Representation,” about all the taxes the British was giving to them including the Stamp Act which noted that everything that was sold in the colonies had to have a tax stamp on it. Secondly, the colonists then decided to have a peaceful protest in the street and a protester threw a snowball at one of the British soldiers and they started shooting at the crowd of colonists and ended up killing 5 people. Equally important, was the Boston Tea Party. This event happened after the Tea Act was made. The Tea Act stated that the British East Indian Tea company got a certain amount of money for all the tea that was sold in the colonies. As well, this Act made the colonists angry and they protested by having a few colonists dress up as First Nations and board the tea boats and throw all the tea overboard.
