Blame is holding responsibility for faults or mistakes. Often we look to blame others when we don’t want to see we are in the wrong. This account of blame that is worldwide relates to Shakespeare’s “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” in many ways. In this case, Lady Capulet, the family feud between the Capulets and the Montagues, and Romeo are to blame. Should these people really be to blame for a failed romance between two teenagers? Does the blame fall just on a few people or should everyone take responsibility?
The family feud between the Capulets and Montagues caused great havoc in Verona. The primary reason for the great tragedy was the constant bickering and fighting between both families. A great example of this in the story is the Prologue, “Two households, both alike in dignity,In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.From forth the fatal loins of these two foes. This affects Juliet’s future relationships and how she responds. She has become naive because her mother was not there to prepare her for future relationships. Aside from the fact that Juliet never had a steady mother figure, she is a very wise young lady. This all changes when emotions come into play. When Juliet meets Romeo she fell instantly in love, knowing this was wrong she didn’t think twice. Juliet’s parents were so intent on having Juliet marry Paris that they did not consider what she wanted. If Lady Capulet would have been involved in her life and simply listen to her, she could have been saved. In the text lady Capulet says, “Talk not to me, for I’ll not speak a word: Do as thou wilt, for I have done with thee (DBQ:Who’s to Blame?Document D). Lady Capulet totally abandons Juliet in a time of need and is not willing to stand up for Juliet at the cost of her own
