Whole Foods Market can experience cannibalization from their 365 stores and their own Whole Foods Market stores. The 365 stores have three locations opened. The first store opened in Los Angles in May 2016, the second location was opened “two months later in Lake Oswego, Oregon in July and a third store was opened two months later in Bellevue, Washington in September of the same year.” (1) Additionally, the Whole Foods Market plans to opened sixteen locations including two on Texas and three on the south of California. One of the ratios impacted by the new store would be profit margin ratio. This ratio measures net income earned with each dollar made in sales, so this ratio can either increase or decrease depending if the store is profitable or not. The ROA will measure how efficient all the assets are being use to make a higher profit for 365. ROE will calculate how much profit is made from the investment of the shareholders, which is needed for the construction of the stores. The current ratio will show the liquidity of the company and how fast they will be able to pay their debt encounter during the expansion.

It is clear that the Whole Foods management is laying off their employees in order to make up for their mistakes. Indeed they haven’t stated this, which is basically showing that when people are in the position to be able to influence data whatever way they like in order to suite their own purposes (Garham, 1982). Through further research I found that Whole Foods is opening up 365 new stores, this is inconsistent with their conclusion to layoff employees.

The company was founded in September of 1980 and has over 400 stores in the United State, United Kingdom, and Canada. While this company is not as well-known as Target in 2014 they did make Fortune 500’s 30th largest retailer in the US based on revenue. In the early days of the corporation the owners suffered some setback such as a flood in 1981 that destroyed inventory but the community banded together to help the corporation that did not have insurance out. The company later expanded in 1984 and worked on steady expansion after that opening their 100th store in 1999.

Organic companies bring a sense of comfort to customers by labeling items organic and providing a bright colorful imagery of a farm.
Introduction Economic dogma states that the main objective of publicly traded firms is profit maximization. In modern times, most companies have been conducting business with that objective in mind. In the process of maximizing profits, irrefutable damage has been inflicted to the environment and also to human capital. Rimanoczy (2015) referring to the maximization of profits expressed, "Focusing on the bottom line as the ultimate priority has had an impact on rising unemployment, social crises, environmental challenges, health impacts, to name a few " (para. 4). Different scholars have proposed several methods to integrate the needs for profits with corporate social responsibility; in this context, John Elkington developed a new approach to measure corporate sustainability denominated the Triple Bottom Line.
They truly appear to have a solid vision that when properly executed will start with the employees and have an effect on the communities that they are present in (Kreitner, R., & Kinicki, A., 2013). Whole Foods strengths are in line with the company’s mission statement and core values. They used their slogan of “Whole Foods, Whole People, and Whole Planet” to form their core strengths. Many of Whole Foods strengths focused on people, the environment, and providing consumers the best quality that they could provide. Weaknesses such as high prices and low outside advertising can put the company at risk of consumers deciding to go to other grocers that provide organic products if they become satisfied with that substitute. With location Whole Foods is still expanding into more markets, so that weakness will continue to shrink as the company expands.
According to the ethical business, the company or organization should bring some kind of benefit for any part of the organization and the groups that it includes such as stakeholders. The ethical business not only includes the financial part of the business, but also the human and environmental relations with the company, concerned with their relation. The image presented on page 77 shows how the Whole Food Market approaches the ethical business with its business mission and how it helps the organization be a better company. We can see in the illustration that the organization want its team members to be happy, consequently its employees would be more motivated to work giving a better customer service. Then, the consumers would be more satisfied.
However, I do participate in healthy eating. My recommendations to Wholes Foods would be to try and incomprarte low-cost pricing. Here in Chicago we have so many different choices to do our grocery shopping. I do believe if they tailor to their neighborhood like most groceries stores did they could win local business. I also would recommend that they that they consider the aspect of global warming.
