Whole Foods Market's green action earned them Environmental Protection Agency award for Green Power Partner when the company adopted the use of Renewable Energy Credit from wind farms for all its stores and by so doing, contributing to avoidance of 551,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide pollution. In addition to the wind power, its energy needs were supplemented by solar power; saving more the 2.2 million kilowatts hours over 20 years. The company's store in Sarasota was a Green building Compliant structure and received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The company also pledged support for Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) that certified Whole Foods Market’s 365 Everyday Value® brand that they contain only verifiable and responsibly produced from palm oil
