What reasons caused World War II to start in 1939? There were many reasons why the war broke out. Some reasons were very important whereas others only played a minor role in the lead up to all this horrible and deadly war. This whole thing started with the Treaty of Versailles. After World War I, a peace treaty was made at Versailles. This treaty was suffocating Germans with so many rules that no one from Germany liked. Reason being was to prevent Germany from starting another world war. However, this plan backfired on the people who made it because it only caused hatred between the Germans to the British and French. Many people had voted him into power because of his promises to make Germany great again, even though they knew he was a little crazy and had very strong beliefs (about the Jews!!!). One of his promises was to end their depression. Without the depression, Hitler may have never come into power because no one obviously wanted to be in it and he assured and promised a way out. There may never have been a World War Two without Adolf Hitler. For example another big reason why WWII started was because of Adolf Hitler's foreign policy. In the foreign policy Hitler overturned the treaty and made Germany strong through his own ideas, not what he people thought. By making Germany strong again, Hitler was able to take on small countries to gain more and more power. After he was taking over small countries he then started taking over larger countries, and eventually start a war (WWII). I think that this factor was one of the most important because it played a big part in the start of the war. However there are bigger factors to the start of WWII than Hitler’s foreign policy. These factors were appeasement and the weakness of the League of Nations. The factor that posed a big problem on Britain and France was United States isolation.
