Ring! The most dreaded noise spreads through the air, marking it as the beginning of the day at 6:30 am. Teenagers struggle to pull themselves out of bed while they are still caved with the aura of sleep to prepare for school. High school classes should begin later in the day and end later in the day to accommodate students’ natural sleeping schedule. Some people say that school should not accommodate to teenagers’ natural sleeping schedule and to have school start in the morning as usual; however, they are incorrect for numerous reasons. Firstly, the students will actively engage in class participation and other school activities. Secondly, sleep is a major factor for good health and school should not be a reason for deteriorating healthy, keeping the body healthy and active which helps to learn. A few people think that it is acceptable to have school early in the morning and the students’ performance would not change; however, studies done by Harvard University shows that sleep is a necessary factor in a teenager’s life and when they get sufficient amount of sleep they are able to be more active physically and emotionally. Lacking sleep teenagers go through the school day feeling as if it is a burden and do not enjoy their education and learning experience. From personal experience, I can state that with weariness hanging over my eyelids I do not focus on school activities and my performance is low in school when I am not well rested. Receiving sufficient hours of sleep engages the student in to learning and enthusiastic about education allowing them to participate and
